The Kermadecs

Symposium

On August 30 and 31, 2010, in honour of the United Nations International Year of Biodiversity, the Pew Environment Group and Te Papa Tongarewa hosted DEEP - a Science Symposium celebrating the unique diversity of the Kermadec ocean wilderness.

The Symposium brought together over 140 scientists, researchers, policy makers and interested parties. Over two days the voices, research and experiences of participants came together to profile and connect the layers of history, culture, geology and biology that define the Kermadec region  and confirm it to be one of New Zealand’s most unique, complex and dynamic marine frontiers.

The Symposium Proceedings are now available here.
